Another story on the GOP reading of the CBS/Democrat collusion
The chairman of the Republican National Committee suggested Wednesday that John Kerry's presidential campaign and CBS News were in cahoots to derail President Bush's re-election effort prior to the network's now infamous "60 Minutes" broadcast of National Guard memos that have since been discredited.
"This obviously was an effort to elect Senator Kerry and defeat President Bush," said Ed Gillespie, the GOP chairman. "The news report we now know is discredited, although it's not been retracted. The centerpiece of the Kerry campaign's character-based critique ... is based on these forged documents."
